Obituary for Beverly Bale

Beverly Bale
Beverly Kathryne Roberts Bale went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2017. A celebration of her life will be 11:00 Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Perkins Church of Christ in Perkins, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Beverly Kathryne Roberts Bale was born in Dewey, Oklahoma, on December 6, 1928. Beverly married her high school sweetheart, John Bale, on June 6, 1949, in Tacoma, WA – just days before he shipped off for military service in Korea. While she was with us, Beverly devoted her life to God, her family, her friends, and any strangers she discovered were in need. Beverly grew up in Kentucky and Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in Dewey, OK. Beverly was an honor student and an alumna of Oklahoma State University (OSU).
Beverly was a volunteer for numerous organizations such as the Stillwater Medical Center and Hospice. She was known for making her signature Bed Babies to give to children facing extended hospital stays in Oklahoma. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Writing, scrapbooking, genealogy, square dancing, hiking, and gardening were Beverly’s favorite past times. She was a notable historical writer, and had numerous articles published documenting the events surrounding the Korean War. Furthermore, her genealogical research was accepted in the Library of Congress as an exemplary document of genealogical historical recording.
Beverly and John were members of numerous square dancing clubs. They met several times a week with friends to dance and socialize.
Beverly and her husband owned a cabin in CO, and they used it as a home base for their fishing and hiking adventures. They loved camping and spent many summers enjoying the CO wilderness. They also used their cabin for faith-based outreach programs; it served as a Christian retreat for youth groups in Oklahoma.
Beverly loved gardening. Her landscaping designs were frequently included in tours of Stillwater’s exceptional gardens and fountains.
Beverly was preceded in death by both parents, Leon and Ruth Roberts; one brother, Dewayne Roberts; one sister, Betty Roberts Lytle.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John Bale (Stillwater); children John Michael Bale (Perkins) and Karen Bale-Brown (Anchorage, AK); daughter-in-law, Benita Knight Bale (Perkins) and son-in-law, David Brown (Anchorage); five grandchildren – Jeremy and Jesse Bale (Stillwater), Benjamin Brown (Hong Kong), Sara Brown (Denver), and Katie Bale Wilson (Hanover, MD); grandchildren in-laws Angie Bale (Stillwater), Matthew Jeffery (Denver), and Wyatt Wilson (Hanover, MD); and five great granddaughters, Malaury, Raegan, and Elyse Bale (Stillwater) and Zoey and Alexis Wilson (Hanover, MD). She is also survived by three sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws, 13 nieces, and 5 nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to: Church of Christ, India Mission, 821 N. Duck St., Stillwater, OK, 74075.
