Eva Waldine Gilbert
Eva Waldine “Dean” Gilbert, 96, of Morrison, passed away peacefully on November 23rd, 2017 “Thanksgiving” night. Viewing will be from 6:30pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, OK. Funeral Service will be at 10:30am Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the First Christian Church, 200 E. A Ave., Morrison, OK.
Dean was a long-standing member of the Morrison Christian Church and a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was born at home North of Morrison, Oklahoma on June 25th, 1921 to Obed T. Swearingen and Nellie L. David Swearingen and graduated from Morrison H.S. in 1936. Dean married the love of her life, Richard M. “Dick” Gilbert of Morrison, OK on February 5th, 1942 in Wichita, KS. Dean worked at Boeing Aircraft while Dick left to serve in the Army during WWII from 1942-1946 shortly after being married. They moved back to Morrison to work as Ranchers until retiring at the age of 81.
It’s been said she was one of the “best” cooks in Pawnee/Noble County! There were always quite a few cowboys around come dinner time after shipping or branding time. Dean and Dick were avid Morrison Wildcat fans too and supported the teams long after their daughters graduated.
Dean was preceded in death by her Parents; husband; daughter, Terry Terece; siblings, Locie Fairchild, Vinna Adams, Dorrel Coffman and Bill Swearingen.
She is survived by her daughters, Franell LaFollette (husband Mike), Jo Lynn Schweikhart (husband David); five grandchildren, Kimberly LaFollette Davis (husband Jamie), Gavin LaFollette (wife Carrie), Ryan Schweikhart (wife Jamie), Amber Schweikhart (husband Lee), Cole Schweikhart (wife Kristen); 12 great grandchildren, Harley Dean and Dakota Davis, Terran, Syan, Shain, Pearce, Jaden, Marion and Ephraim Schweikhart, Hayden, Hudson and Maddie LaFollette, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, other family members, in-laws and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Morrison Christian Church.
