Donald Gene Howard, 79, of Wichita, KS and formerly of Amarillo, TX passed away Monday, April 2, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on April 10, 2018 at Bethel Cemetery in Glencoe, Oklahoma with Dr. Brent O. Johnston of the First Presbyterian Church Wichita as celebrant. The service will be followed by a lunch at the Atherton Hotel located on the Oklahoma State University Campus.
Donald was born June 5, 1938 to Ercil and Mildred (Synder) Howard in Drumright, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bethany High School and attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma before joining the military. He served in the Army and reserves from 1958 to 1964 when he was honorably discharged. He worked as a restaurant manager for many years and later for the State of Kansas until his retirement in 2003.
Donald enjoyed sports and he followed the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Kansas City Royals passionately. He also enjoyed sharing a nice meal at a restaurant with family and visiting with his children and grandchildren. Donald loved to share stories about his younger days and family history.
Donald is survived by four sons, Brent Howard and his wife Jazzy, Brad Howard and his wife Nicole Shannon all of Amarillo, TX, Brian Howard and his wife Stephanie of Wichita, KS, and Barry Howard and his wife Suzanne of Albuquerque, NM; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
