Obituary for Ann Margaret O'Brien
Margaret Ann O’Brien, 83, passed away March 23, 2018. Her twin sister, Theresa O’Brien, passed away a few years before. Both of the girls will be buried together at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Stillwater, OK. A memorial will be held by their classmates at a later date. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The twins, Ann and Theresa, were born on December 8, 1934 in Ohio. Ann and Theresa’s mother, Mrs. Dorothy Jewitt, became unable to take care of the children and their father had passed when the twins were very young. At 10 years of age, the twins went to live with their mother’s sister, Mrs. Pauline Mendenhall, who was granted guardianship of the girls. Mr. and Mrs. Pauline Mendenhall were residents of Stillwater; thus, the girls started school in the 5th grade at Eugene Fields elementary School and continued their education, both graduating from Stillwater High School in 1954. Theresa attended Oklahoma A & M College for 2 years and afterwards moved in and out of Stillwater. However, Ann became a housekeeper at the OSU hotel where she remained until her retirement. Ann then became a resident of Roxie Weber until her health made it impossible for her to remain there. She then became a resident of Grace Living Center in Stillwater, OK. Ann was a delightful person who was always friendly. In her days at Grace Living Center, she liked to read, specifically architectural and English magazines, and recalled a set of books she had read when she was a young girl in Ohio. She also enjoyed watching the HGTT and Food Channels.
Ann and Theresa were preceded in death by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jewitt; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Mendenhall.
The girls are survived by three cousins, Steve, Jeff and Roger Lawson of Florida, no other relatives exist at the time of publishing this obituary.
Memorial contributions may be made to SHS/C.E. Donart Foundation, 315 W. 8th Avenue, Stillwater, OK 74074.
