Condolence From: Michelle Abington
Condolence: I just heard about Mrs. Joyner's passing and all I have is good no great memories of her. Like so many, other people. I was one of her students at Westwood elementary and when ever I saw her around town she remembered me and my glasses. Even though every time she saw me I would have them off, I still do and she would always say to me Now michelle, where are your glasses? and we both would laugh. when I was younger I got sick and missed school for awhile she came to my house to help me catch up on my homework- Not many teachers would do that back then, and certainly not in today's world. The best memory I have is when I was in her class she took us all on a field trip to her house- we walked there from westwood and she gave us all cookies and punch while showing us her flowers in her garden. Lovely lady, lovely teacher, so many fond memories of her. she will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family. I am so sorry for your loss. May God keep you in his care and bless all of you!

Condolence From: Susan Smith
Condolence: To the loved ones of Ms. Clara, as I knew her. Ms. Clara was an inspiration to many people across the world but none greater than she was to me. I first met her at my church, University Heights Baptist Church, where she played the organ and coordinated a ministry to Internationals called Hands Abroad. I began teaching sewing to International women 31 years ago at Hands Abroad. Today, I am the coordinator of this wonderful ministry. She led this mission ministry as a volunteer for many years. Truly, hundreds of women and a few men were blessed through Ms. Clara's Christlike kindness. I try to follow in her footsteps. Each time I visited her we would reminisce about people we had met through Hands Abroad. Even last Christmas Eve when my family sings carols to shut-ins, we talked about Hands Abroad. On another note, she was a great musician, too. Organs, pianos, bells - she could play them all!! As we were singing classic Christmas carols last year, traditionally we only sing the first verses but your loved one, my friend and mentor, continued singing all the verses to Away In A Manger! Some of my grown children didn't even know all of them! What a blessing she has been for more than a century!! May the Lord comfort you at this time. Ms. Clara was and is a saint. God be with you. Susan Smith
