Obituary for Alfred Marion Clark

Alfred Marion  Clark
Alfred Marion “Pete” Clark passed on December 3, 2018 at his home in Glencoe, OK. He was 97 years old. The family will greet friends at Strode Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 6, at 3:00 pm at the Glencoe Church of Christ followed by interment at the Glencoe south cemetery. Strode Funeral and Cremation is in charge of the service.

Pete was born at home on June 27, 1921 to Walker Fredrick Clark and Mary Elizabeth Clark. He married Luella Leigh on April 10, 1952 at the Joe Leigh Dairy in Stillwater, OK. Pete attended and graduated as Salutatorian from Glencoe High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He was an elder, teacher and treasurer for the Glencoe Church of Christ and also served as clerk and council member for the town of Glencoe. He was presented a 20-year Expert Driver Award by the National Safety Council and also a One Million Mile Safe Driving Award by the U.S. Postal Service in 1977.

Pete was a Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn Kid, a peach seed carver, mushroom fanatic, jokester, adventurer, story teller, leader of men, follower of Jesus, singer, reformed crap shooter, wanna be sweep stakes winner, a worker that need not be ashamed, pop sipper, son of a gun, beloved son, indearing brother, loving husband, great Father, Father-in- Law, a Great Dad, Grandad, and a Great Great Man. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Luella, daughter Evalyn Blanchard, brother Leonard Clark and sister Mary Sawyer.

He is survived by a brother Fred Clark (Joan) and sister Ethel Adkinson, and two sons John (Karen) and David (Alana) and his grandchildren and a host of foster grandchildren.
