Ilona Mae Mitchell, 79, died on April 10th, 2019 in Stillwater, Ok. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Glencoe United Methodist Church with interment following at the Morrison Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the service.

Born on December 22, 1939 to Clifton and Mary LuDeana (Shaver) Crauthers and later Floyd Yarbrough as a step Father. Although she graduated from Cushing High School in 1958, she also attended school in Glencoe and then for short time at Draum Business College.
Ilona was joined in marriage to Dale Mitchell on May 22, 1959 at Camp Pendleton, California until his death in 2008. Dale and Ilona were Blessed with three children. Dale was the ‘Love of her Life’. Two years after Dale’s death she was Blessed to have Hugh (Doc) Hesser as her companion for 6 years until his passing in 2016. They were also so good for each other during that time of their lives.
Ilona picked cotton, worked as a waitress, worked at a Dental office for short time while going to college, took care of lots of children, sold Tupperware, and worked at IGA bakery. She was a hard worker keeping up with her family and garden and flowers.
Ilona loved gardening and grew so many vegetables in over an acre garden. She shared with family and neighbors. She put up, canned, and froze to use throughout the year. She made jellies, pickles, and homemade bread. She was a great cook. Dale would also bring home deer, rabbit, turkey and other critters that he hunted and she was able to cook so good. She also loved her flowers and every time you went for visit she would take you around her yard and show you and name them all.
She always had a positive attitude and was good listener to many. She enjoyed playing cards and games such as Yahtzee and Dominoes with family and friends. She also liked to play bingo and go to Casinos. She put together puzzles with her kids. She loved taking and teaching kids how to swim or roller skate. She loved a good water fight especially on those hot days.
She also liked to camp and fish and lots of family would join in on the fun. The family would go to all area lakes and to Roaring River.
Ilona, better known as ‘Mom’, ‘Grandma’. ‘Great’, ‘Love of my Life’, ‘Aunt’, ‘Aunt Sissy’ or just ‘Sissy’. Her greatest love was her family and especially her husband Dale for 49 years. She loved her children Merry, Kenneth and Kimberly and later her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Ilona also helped raise her Granddaughter Amanda Mitchell Silver from about 3 years old. She loved her so much.
She loved to travel to California and Colorado and Florida to see family. She really loved both sides of the family.! She loved going to Disneyland and Silver Dollar City with all the family. Also, one of her later trips was going on a Cruise with 47 family members for her Grandson Eric (Joni)’s wedding at Cozumel. She was always talking about that trip.
Ilona was preceded in death by her parents Clifton Crauthers, Floyd and Mary Yarbrough, her husband Dale Mitchell and partner Hugh (Doc) Hesser, brother Carl Crauthers, brother-in-law Carl Channell and son Kenneth Wayne Mitchell. Also preceded in death by Wilbur and Maxine Mitchell, Mary Beth Paxton, Frank Paxton, Laverne Mitchell, and Doyle Mitchell.
Ilona is survived by her daughters Merry Ann (Karl) Inskeep,; and Kimberly Joy (Robert) Cannon,; sister Betty Channell,; brothers Bill (Virginia) Crauthers,; and Danny (Vicki) Yarbrough,; and sister-in-law Eve Crauthers,; and Aunt Melba Shaver.
Survived by 10 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

Also survived by Mary Jane Mitchell.; Gloria Mitchell.; and Ed Paxton and numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Eric Inskeep, Dakota Cannon, Kaden Silver, Bob Davis, Kevin McMillin, and Charles ‘Kipp’ Paxton.
Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Suber, Terry Crider, Chuck Prater.
