Obituary

Sandra Jean (Dinkel) Zwinger, 61, left earth for Heaven on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Sandy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnnie R. Zwinger, Jr., and their family takes comfort in knowing they are dancing together again. Her husband, her daughter, Jennifer, and her grandchildren were the loves of her life. She is also predeceased by her parents, Herbert W. and Mary Elizabeth (Coranna) Dinkel, and her sister Nancy Patricia (Dinkel) Carr.
Sandy’s love for her family, and for others, was evident to all who knew her. She never forgot a birthday or special event, and she loved to make her loved ones feel special with cards for every occasion. Anytime she could make someone smile, Sandy was truly happy. She served alongside her husband in children’s ministry for over 30 years, and they were the Children’s Pastors for Solid Rock Church in Stillwater. Sandy’s quiet joy was the perfect complement to Johnnie’s boisterous energy; they loved making children smile and leading them to know the love of Jesus.
Sandy was proud of her career with the US Postal Service, where she worked as a mail carrier for over 25 years before retiring in 2009. She started the Stamp Out Hunger program at the Sand Springs post office and was known there as “Smiley” because she always had a genuine smile on her face and loved to make others smile with her.
Johnnie and Sandy were truly a match ordained by God. They loved to travel from cruises to local camping with Johnnie by her side. She loved baseball and the New York Yankees and in March, she and her daughter Jennifer attended Spring Training in Florida. Sandy’s life was spent bringing joy to others, which brought her so much happiness in return.
Sandy is survived by many who love her, including her daughter, Jennifer, and Jennifer’s husband Josh, her grandchildren: Cade, Cale, Brooklyn, Blair, Sadie, and Payne; her sister, Deborah (Dinkel) Nieman and husband Gregg; and her beloved nephews: Peter Strecker, his wife Tara, and their children Morgan and Connor; James Strecker, his wife Angie, and their son Rowan; and Gates Nieman. Family was very important to Sandy, and she is survived also by many extended family members in the Zwinger, Dinkel, Owen, Baker, and Brandsness families, whom she loved dearly.
A graveside ceremony will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 10:30 at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, OK. Service will follow at Solid Rock Church, Stillwater, OK, at 11:30, with lunch afterward. Strode Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made on behalf of Sandy Zwinger to Camp Victory 34585 West Basin Rd Mannford, Oklahoma 74044.

I had the pleasure of selling Sandy her house in Stillwater and I told her, after closing on the home, that I wished all my clients were so joyful and positive. She always had a smile on her face and loved life to the fullest. I just found out today about her passing and my heart is sad, she made those around her happier, my prayers are with her family, which she truly loved, God grant you all peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Jennifer, I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved mother. Sandy will always be the sweetest person I have the privilege of knowing. Johnnie always made sure I marked his calendar to leave the week of their anniversary open and not make any work plans for him. They are the perfect example of how married couples should love, respect and treasure each other. It makes me smile to think of them together in Heaven and to imagine them singing, dancing and making the angels smile. Much love to you and your family. Lisa Ramsay
