Obituary

Beulah Mae Sharpton, age 92, of Glencoe, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Glencoe United Methodist Church with burial following in the Glencoe South Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Beulah was born on February 2, 1927 to Ben and Ethel McCollum in Bristow, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in 1944 in Jennings, Oklahoma where a short time later she met Jake Sharpton, the love of her life. They were married on June 8, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. Beulah was a member of the Methodist church. Beulah enjoyed crocheting, gardening and working in the yard with Jake.
She is survived by her grandson Rick Huff and his wife Michelle; two great-grandsons, Jacob and fiancé Lauren and Bryce Huff; two great-great-grand-daughters; and one brother Benny McCollum and wife Carol. She is also survived by Chris Huffman (mother of Jacob and Bryce Huff) and husband Jimmy and their daughter, Michaela. Many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends will also miss her, particularly Calvin and Beth Oyster, Kathy Stokesberry, and Ginger and Mark Rosiere who were a great help and comfort to her.
Beulah is preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Carol; her son-in-law, Melbern Huff; three sisters; two brothers; and her youngest grandson, Clint.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Beulah’s memory may do so by contributing to the Glencoe United Methodist Church or the Glencoe South / I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Dear Sharpton family. I am so sorry to have read of the death of Beulah. Please accept my sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4. May God give you and your family comfort in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they are resurrected. With deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.

Special Lady! She was my babysitter for several years, always had a smile and hug for me in later years. Great memories of her, Jake and Carol. All are truly missed. Ron Rakes

I'd known Jake & Beulah for many, many years and my folks knew them way before that. They were always so friendly, well liked and all around good people. I'd often stop to chat with them, then her, on my way home from church. May God provide comfort and peace of mind for all her friends and family who mourn her passing. As I turn the corner and see their home it'll always bring back many fond memories.
