Olivie Pansy Hodges Cole was born December 20,1920 in Washington County, Arkansas. She passed away at her home on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the age of 98. She was the daughter of Lewis Napoleon and Minnie Quinton Hodges. She grew up on Cove Creek in the beautiful hills of NW Arkansas and was proud of her Arkansas roots. She eloped on August 12, 1942 with Norvil Cole in Fayetteville, Arkansas. They celebrated their 76th anniversary this past August. She and Norvil relocated to Oklahoma after he finished his schooling and took a job in Stillwater. She was a strong woman who did everything to take care of her family. She grew a garden, canned, baked bread, sewed clothes and made quilts. She and Norvil enjoyed going camping and taking road trips with children and later grandchildren. They enjoyed blue grass music and attended many blue grass festivals with friends. She taught first grade Sunday school at the Baptist church for many years. She was known for her sense of humor and dry wit. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Norvil and her son Neil Cole. She is survived by five children; Tim Cole of Perkins, Gary Cole and wife Cathy of Newalla, Grady Cole of Perkins, Gayle Harris and her husband Keith of Stillwater, and Karen VanDusen and her husband Guy of Sherman, Texas. She has 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Her family would like to express their appreciation to her caregivers – especially Helen Slavens. Your patience and care for her did not go unnoticed. The family will hold visitation at Strode Chapel in Stillwater on Wednesday May 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Services are planned for 2:00 pm on Thursday May 30, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Perkins.
