Bob was born on February 8, 1938 in Mulhall, OK to Delbert and Arrealley Matheson. He grew up in the Coyle area and graduated from Coyle High School in 1956. He married Virginia Graham in Coyle, OK on October 11,1957. Together they shared 61 wonderful years. They were blessed with two children, Rodney and Robin.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1956 and was employed at Oklahoma State University. He later worked for Meadow Gold Milk Company and retired from Rainbo Bread Company after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Coyle Christian Church and served on the board for 55 years.
Bob was a dedicated husband, father, brother and grandpa. Spending time with his family was one of his greatest pleasures. He was an avid OSU and OKC Thunder fan. He also loved going camping and fishing. He was our “go to guy” and could fix anything. He was always willing to lend a hand and help other people. His strength, sense of humor, and loving spirt will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Matheson of Stillwater; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Linda Matheson of Coyle; and daughter Robin Knight of Norman.
He is also survived by two brothers, Dean Matheson and his wife, Karen of Stillwater; and Jim Matheson and his wife, Velma of Ingalls. Survivors also include two grandchildren, Amber Baird and her husband Matt of Jones, and Joseph Knight of Stillwater; four step-grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Morgan, and Buddy; and seven great-grandchildren.
His family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Stillwater Medical Center. Your patience and loving care did not go unnoticed.
