Eddie Ruth (Thomas) Richardson was born on September 26, 1923 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2019. Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, OK. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden.

She was the oldest child of Robert Taylor and Eula Mable Thomas. The family moved several times during her childhood but settled in Norman for most of her youth Eddie Ruth got the lead in the senior class play and was elected Miss Norman High. She attended Oklahoma University where she met William Loy (Bill) Richardson. They corresponded during Bill’s enlistment as a Marine during World War II. They married on October 27,1945 and moved to Stillwater where they lived for their entire married life. To their union four children were born: Rebecca Ruth (Becky), Marianne, Jeannine and William Paul.

Eddie Ruth was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom until her son Paul was in fifth grade. She then went to work as a church secretary and later as an elementary school secretary. She and Bill were instrumental in starting several churches in the Stillwater area, and their faith was integral to their lives. Eddie Ruth served in Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday School and organized church events. Upon retirement, she enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and family members, as well as spending time in Branson, Missouri each year. Eddie Ruth was an excellent seamstress, a talent she inherited from her mother. She was skilled at needlework, crochet and baking. She enjoyed hosting people at her home, and seldom sat when people were there. She enjoyed writing letters and continued corresponding with friends throughout her life. After her husband’s death in 2004, Eddie Ruth sold her home and moved into an assisted living residence in Stillwater. She remained there until 2013 when she moved to Claremore where she lived until her death.

Eddie Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Becky Dumbleton and two brothers, (Robert Lee Thomas and William Joseph Thomas). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren with 1 arriving in December.

“Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future (the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it)! Proverbs 31:25. Eddie Ruth ran her race, finished strong and is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Soar high Mother. We’ll see you soon!

Eddie Ruth was a wonderful & sweet lady whose faith in Christ shown in her face whenever you saw her. She was a caring & devoted mother to Becky, Marianne, Jeannine, and Paul -- as well as an awesome wife to Bill. It was my pleasure to have known her since 1963, when I first became close friends with Becky. Through the years of my friendship with Becky - Eddie Ruth was always there to be an outstanding example of what it means to be a Proverbs 31 woman. She is now enjoying eternal health and happiness as she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved Bill and Becky.
