On Sunday, June 30, 2019 Theodore “Leon” Bostian went to his heavenly home and passed peacefully in his sleep at Westhaven Nursing Center in Stillwater, at the age of 89. Funeral services are entrusted to Strode Funeral Home and Cremation and will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Friends Chapel Church, Redlands Road, west of Perkins. Graveside services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
He was born on May 18, 1930 on the family farm near Coyle, OK to Theodore and Vinnie (Cook) Bostian. He attended school locally and graduated from Coyle High School in 1949. He played sports for Coyle, but was particularly adept at baseball. In the summer of 1952, he met the love of his life, Carol “Joan” Archer at Camp Quaker Haven church camp and they married October 26 that same year. A year later they welcomed there first son, Arlin. In 1954, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. While in Germany, Leon and Joan welcomed a second son, Rodney. They also had two daughters, Jonna and Jolinda while living in Perkins.
Leon was born into farming, but ultimately chose his career of a lifetime with UPS. With over 20 years of service, he retired in 1995. Post retirement he and Joan spent several years happily touring the country in their RV, convoying with dear friends. He was also an avid gardener and loved all of nature and animals. He especially enjoyed feeding his beloved hummingbirds.
Leon is survived by his wife, Joan of 66 years, their four children, Arlin Bostian (Lori), Rodney Bostian (Roberta), Jonna Crane (David), Jolinda Stapleton, Marianne (Lane) Bostian, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the loving staff at Westhaven and also Physicians Choice Hospice for making his final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
