Obituary

Henry Ray Dickens died at the age of 80 on July 10, 2019 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Glencoe Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Glencoe South Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is handling the arrangements.

Henry was born January 21, 1939 to George Dewey and Anna Maxine Dickens.

He began school in a one-room schoolhouse, Pleasant Valley, which consolidated with Puruna his 3rd grade year and completed fourth grade at Braman. Henry stayed with Grandpa Wendling and the Joe Patterson family while in 5th grade at Buffalo. He attended Puruna 6th-8th grades and 9th – 12th grades at Buffalo, graduating in 1957. He married Valeria Cox in 1958 and sons Theodore Ray and Douglas Eugene were born. During this time, he attended OSU-Okmulgee becoming certified in HVAC. After moving to Fairview two girls, Sheri Lynn and Katherine LeAnn were born. He worked in the oilfield while establishing his own HVAC business. When they moved to Glencoe in 1968, he worked for OSU in refrigeration for 17 years. He also ran a cattle operation in addition to maintaining his HVAC business.

When his first marriage ended, he remarried and adopted a son, Earl Paul. That marriage also ended, and he then married Shirley Hesser and acquired two more daughters, Anita and Janet.

Henry and Shirley had a wonderful life together and enjoyed many activities as a couple. They finished raising Earl and were blessed to get Madison Criswell very early in her life and have been caring for her since.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Charlene Lowry.

Surviving him is his Wife Shirley and children, Ted Dickens, Doug & Sherryl Dickens. Sheri Harting, Kathie & Rodger Short, Earl & Dolci Dickens, Anita & Terry Criswell, Janet & John Frakes, a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were very dearly loved.
