Janet was born to Ralph and Francis Higgins on May 29, 1935 in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Stillwater and was very proud to be the youngest daughter of the OSU track coach, Ralph Higgins. She graduated from Stillwater High School, went to OSU where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi and met the love of her life, Gene Anderson. They were married and she became a proud Air Force wife. She was a loving mom to her daughters, Stephanie, Susan and Fred. She cherished and loved every moment with them and many times raised them on her own since Gene was a fighter pilot and gone a lot. Janet went back to college, after raising their three girls, and graduated from Central State University in Edmond with a Business Education degree. She taught at Johnson City High School, Illinois and MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas.
After retiring from education, it was time to move back to the town she always loved, Stillwater. While in Stillwater, she was a member of PEO Chapter EP, Newcomers, and Pi Beta Phi alumni group. She wore her bright orange with pride and attended the majority of all the OSU events.
Left to cherish her love and memories is her husband of 64 years; three daughters, Stephanie (Mike) Millar, Ft. Worth, Susan Anderson, Stillwater, and Fred (Mike) Penn, Wichita Falls; three grandchildren, Allyson (Phil) King, Brent (Jennifer) Millar and Walt Penn; three great-grandchildren, Presley Spurgeon, Brady and Parke Millar; her sister, Virginia Higgins Witt; brother-in-law, Carrol and Mary Anderson. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends all over the world.
