Robert “Bob” Lamar Hert, Jr. died Monday, August 26, 2019. He passed peacefully at his home in Stillwater after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 75 years old. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Stillwater Country Club. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Bob was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Lillie Lee Hert and Robert Lamar Hert, Sr. He was raised in Stillwater, where he graduated from Stillwater High School in 1962. From there, he graduated in 1966 from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Economics. He went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma University in 1969. He returned to his hometown of Stillwater, where he was in private law practice 1969 – 2011. He sat on the bench as Special District Judge of Payne and Logan Counties 2011 – 2019, and 2005 – 2007 was the Contract Administrative Law Judge for the Office of Administrative Hearings, Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Bob was a longtime member of the Payne County Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association Professional Responsibility Tribunal. From 1969 – 2003 he served in the United States Army Reserves, rising to rank of Lieutenant Colonel, receiving numerous awards including Army Commendation Medals and Meritorious Service Medals.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; prior wife, Carolyn; son, Rob and his children Luke and Brian, son, Clay and his wife Alyssa; daughter, Carrie, her husband Jeff and their children, Brandt, Hunter and Holden; son, Cody and his children Tristan, Slade and Sawyer; son, Guy, his wife Alejandra, and children, Guy and Adelaide; son, Joe, his wife Jill and their children Jaycie, Josie and Jackson; sister, Martha A. Lyon and her husband, Colonel Don A. Lyon; sister, Mary Lee Hert Draper; and beloved pets Lil, Tank and Pearl.
Bob will be fondly remembered by those close to him as having been a good, honest man. He was a loyal friend, loving husband and father, proud grandpa, caring brother, loyal Cowboys fan who wore orange with pride, a dog’s best friend, and he will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace.
