Born to Lothie Currie (L.C.) and Jewell Fay (Mathews) Baker on October 21, 1930 in Dekalb, Texas, the family moved to Texarkana, Texas in 1940. Jo attended NEO college in Tahlequah, where she joined Tri Delta sorority, and majored in Chemistry.
Jo and Lionel Everett Bair married on August 10, 1947 and moved to St. Louis where L.E. attended dental school at Washington University. In 1951, they started a family and a dental practice in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Jo was a “Greatest Generation” mom, and her children enjoyed her kindness and sense of humor. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. An accomplished bridge player, she also enjoyed dominoes and reading. There was always a dog in her lap to love and care for. Jo was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Retirement years for Jo and L.E. were spent between Lake Tenkiller and Taos, N.M. homes, where they loved entertaining friends and family.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband and son, Brad.
She is survived by children, Lon Bair (Debbie), Bob Bair (Becky), and Janet Plaxico; grandchildren, Kristen Roberson, Justin Plaxico (LeAnne), Brian Plaxico (Michelle), Mick Bair, Brent Plaxico, Alison Coatney, and Wade Bair (Holly). Joe was blessed with 14 great grandchildren.
Thanks to the friends and staff from Golden Oaks for making her feel like a part of the community, and to her special friend Donna Harrison.
It would make Jo happy to have donations made in her name to the Humane Society of Stillwater, 1710 S. Main, Stillwater, OK. 74074.
