Shirley Ann Hesson was born July 2, 1935, in Ponca City, Kay County, Oklahoma; the second of six daughters born to Arthur Earl Hesson and Ollie Mavorine Trimmer. She departed this life October 10, 2019, at the Westhaven Nursing Home in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Shirley attended the Oak Hill country school northwest of Stillwater, Perry High School and Stillwater High School, graduating from Stillwater High School in the class of 1953. She began a career in nursing in 1951 as a Nursing Assistant at the Stillwater Baptist Hospital. During her employment at the Stillwater Baptist Hospital, she volunteered to assist in the care of Iron Lung polio patients.
Shirley was united in marriage with Luin Lee Leisher March 10, 1955, in Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma. Two sons were born to this union; Kenneth Luin Leisher and Kyle Ray Leisher.
When her sons reached college age, Shirley resumed her nursing career, attending Shoreline Community College School of Nursing, near Seattle in King County, Washington. She received an Associate Degree in Nursing and her Registered Nurse certification in 1984. She was employed by several medical facilities in Washington state and Oklahoma, including the North Bend, Washington, Nursing Center and the Pawnee, Oklahoma, Municipal Hospital where she served both facilities as Director of Nursing.
Shirley was predeceased by both parents; one son, Kyle Ray Leisher, Norman, Oklahoma; and one sister, Kathleen Horton. She is survived by her husband of Stillwater; one son Kenneth Luin Leisher and wife Peggy, Coupeville, Washington; one daughter-in-law Julie Leisher, Norman, Oklahoma; four sisters, Donna Casey and husband John, Winterville, Georgia; Jean Lile and husband Roy, Leon, Kansas; Jerye Carter and husband David, Roswell, New Mexico; and Elsie Howell, Clinton, Oklahoma; one grandson, Christopher Leisher and wife Angie, Katy, Texas; three granddaughters Rebecca Leisher, Seattle, Washington; Shannon Leisher, Austin, Texas; and Kendra Boon, Walla Walla, Washington; one great granddaughter Julianne Leisher, Katy, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Shirley will be laid to rest October 14, 2019, in Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma; near the graves of her parents, paternal grandparents, several paternal aunts and uncles and one brother-in-law.
