Clairlee Evans, age 85, of Perkins, passed away on November 5, 2019 at Westhaven Nursing Center. Funeral services will begin at 2:30pm Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Clairlee was born August 24, 1934 to Wesley E. and Esther Rose (Lockard) Hover. She married Winfred C. Evans in Stillwater, OK on December 3, 1949. He preceded her in death November 14, 2017.
Clairlee initially worked in retail, and later at Mercruiser first as a janitor, then plumber, then later was the first female air tool mechanic for the Brunswick Corporation.
Clairlee loved to sing and dance. She and W.C. had a Country and Western dance band and played at county fairs and dance halls. She taught herself to sew, and made her dresses and matching shirts for W.C. She also loved gardening and canning, and made the best hot dill pickles in the world!
Family was her world. She always tried to make the holidays special, and everyone knew they were always welcome. She was also well-known for volunteering for thirteen years at the Taylorsville Country Fair.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Members of her family include her three children, Fred Evans and wife Kay, Ruth Harting and husband Eugene, and Emma Lewis and husband Steve. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Shane Raper and wife Misty, Mandy Williamson and husband Burke, Angie Harting and husband Kevin, Kelsi Blasier and husband Lance, Kody Lewis and wife Chelsie, and Wesley Evans and wife Tracey. She also has 10 great-grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Raper, Kody Lewis, Lance Blasier, Kevin Harting, Jeff Melton, Dakota Turner, with Wesley Evans, Burke Williamson and Skipper Cramton serving as honorary pallbearers.
