Beverly Rae Phoenix Boyd Pelnar, age 90, of Stillwater, was born to Raymond D. Campbell and Pearl N. Phoenix on August 15, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Beverly spent her youth between Sublette, Kansas and Afton, Oklahoma. She married Ralph D. “R.D.” Boyd on January 21, 1946 in Afton, Oklahoma. I so enjoyed visiting with Beverly at the Southside Baptist Church. We developed a fast friendship since I grew up in the same mile section that she did in Afton. She had told me I wouldn't know her small town but in fact, I knew her in-laws and many family members. I brought her some handhewn blacksmith nails from the old barn that was falling down at that property several years ago. She was a bright spot in my life when I needed one.
