Kathleen was born April 12, 1924 in rural Payne County to Delmer and Katie (Van Brundt) Pepmiller. She graduated from high school in Coyle, OK in 1941 and married Willie Lester Phillips on February 9, 1943, in Stillwater OK. They had 4 children together. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1980. In 2003, she met and married Leo Field and made the move from Coyle to Perkins, OK. Leo preceded her in death on January 24, 2006.
Kathleen lived a rich life. She loved crossword puzzles, reading, cooking and feeding the family as often as she could gather them. She welcomed all to her table. She held her faith very close to her heart, attending services faithfully and serving in different capacities including teaching Sunday School classes for many years. She encouraged all the family to pray and go to church.
She was blessed to see her family grow from her 4 children to 9 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and 13 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy and she always enjoyed attending the school activities of the grandkids, especially a good ball game.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, sister Trula Dawson, brothers DeLoss, Wilmer, KD & Delmer Pepmiller as well as two sons, Roger Lester Phillips and Delmer Martin Phillips. She is survived by her son, LaRue Phillips and her daughter, Debra Bentley, both of Coyle.
She left us with this handwritten prayer:
“Angels of God from heaven above,
watch over my children with your precious love,
and all of their children with love from above.
Because that’s what our Lord and Savior does.”
