Sheri Ann Goodrich-Kamp, 44, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on January 9, 2020 at OU Medical Center in OKC due to a sudden illness. Sheri was born in Portland, OR on October 11, 1975 to Marilyn Zetter Goodrich and James (Jim) Goodrich. She spent a number of her growing up years in Seaside, Oregon where her family owned and operated a motel. This fostered a love for the ocean and good clam chowder that she carried with her throughout her life.
As a teenager, Sheri was active in her Portland Foursquare church youth group until she moved to Oklahoma in 1995 to attend Rhema Bible Training College (Center) where she graduated in 1997. It was on the campus of Rhema that Sheri met the man she would later marry, Jason Kamp. After graduating from Rhema, Sheri moved to Alabama where she worked with Harvest Time Ministries for 13-years. Her time in Alabama transformed the lives of countless young women and established a lifelong love for youth and young adults.
After returning to Oregon, Sheri became an active member of Abundant Life Family Church where she encouraged single ladies and taught youth and young adults. In 2018, she rekindled her friendship with Jason Kamp and the two fell in love. They were married on December 28, 2019 in Perry, OK and planned to have a second ceremony for her Oregon friends and family in 2020. Jason and Sheri planned to ultimately make their home in Oregon, after a brief stay in Oklahoma.
Sheri was a devoted friend to all who knew her and was even known to say, “Once you become my friend, you’re my friend forever.” She frequently blessed friends with cards, not just for holidays, but to encourage and uplift them. She enjoyed trips to the beach, exploring new places, covered bridges and sharing her passion for Jesus with everyone. When she and Jason began their long distance romance, she began expressing to her close friends her strong desire to be married and make a home and life with someone. She was particularly excited to become a part of the Kamp family, finally having siblings and a niece, to share her love and life with.
Shortly after their honeymoon, Sheri became ill and was taken to OU Medical Center, where she passed into glory on January 9, 2020 under the loving watch of her husband, Jason and beloved friend, Jessica.
Sheri was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Zetter Goodrich, and is survived by her husband Jason Kamp, father Jim Goodrich, close cousins Bill & Connie Gunston, brother-in-law Chris Kamp of Perry, OK, brother and sister-in-law Kent and Christina Kamp and one niece Kayla Kamp of Mannford, OK.
