William Patrick “Pat” Pittman of Perkins, died on January 31, 2020 at his home in Perkins, Oklahoma. His memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 7, 2020 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Pat was born on November 7, 1948 in Weatherford, Texas to Richard and Jo (Draper) Pittman. The family moved from Aledo, Texas to Fort Reno, Oklahoma and eventually settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He graduated from C.E. Donart High School and attended Oklahoma State University, studying mechanical technology. He served in the Army National Guard for nine years.
Pat worked in the automobile industry as a service manager, starting at Vincent Chevrolet in 1969, working thirty plus years as service manager for Wilson Chevrolet. He was awarded the “Only the Best Service Manager Club” award eight times. He loved “working on cars and fixing people”. He also worked at Carlile Automotive, Ruble Vance Chevrolet, Stillwater Honda and Ron Shirley Pontiac, retiring in 2013. His pride and joy was his bright orange 1960 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery Express, which he restored from a rusted heap.
He was married to Sara Suddeth in 1968, and from this union two children were born, son, Kelly Pittman and wife Jennifer, daughter Angi Oefelein and her husband Mike. This marriage ended in divorce. He married Diane Palmer in 2008 and gained a bonus daughter, Erin Hall.
Pat was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for 29 years, serving as Exalted Ruler for the local lodge, as well as Grand Lodge District Deputy and Oklahoma Elks State President. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 9 years, serving as Worthy President for the local aerie.
Pat loved cars, but running a close second was his love of BBQ and smoking meats. He had a reputation as a great smoker, specializing in brisket, ribs, pork butt, and smoked cabbage. He was instrumental in starting the Elks Blazathon, and was chairman of that event for many years and was proud of the money this annual event raised for Judith Karmen Hospice over the years. Pat also was an avid OSU fan, a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved singing karaoke, especially Johnny Cash.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and his brother, Mark Pittman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his kids, Kelly, Angi, and step-daughter, Erin, and sister, Cheryl Dedrickson.
Pat was loved by all who met him, with his big, booming voice and wonderful bear hugs. He leaves behind a host of friends and extended family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s memory to LIFE Center, Karman Legacy Hospice, 1311 South Western Road, Stillwater OK 74074, or the Parkinson’s Foundation, 720 W. Wilshire Blvd #109, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73116.

Dear Diane, Cheryl and Family,

Born on November 7 as was Pat’s maternal Great-Grandmother, Belle, it seems natural that both she and Pat were exceptional culinary artists. Pat’s photos reminded me of his namesake and Granddad, “Bill” as well as his Dad, Richard. His study, work ethic and love of sports were, also. Not to mention his giving spirit to “fix people, give a big hug” and assist others in his community. Additionally, these talents remind me of Pat’s Great Aunt, Delorees, my late Mother. Then there is the art or design element -another family skill he so beautifully displayed. What a gift Pat had when creating the orange Delivery Express! Plus Pat’s love of cars reminded me of my late brother, Carl. Most everyone in our family loves music and Jim and I feel one can never go wrong with Johnny Cash! With each of Pat’s gifts, attributes and interests, I’m certain, there was more than just a touch of his precious Mother, Jo, also.

Because we loved Pat as well as each and every one of our cousins and my work in recent years has prevented me from visiting more often, it is with great regret due to the weather we will be unable to visit with you on Friday. We shall hope to see you when the weather allows later, however. Please know we shall continue to keep each of you and Pat’s many friends in our hearts and prayers now and in the days to come.

With Love and Prayers,
Charlie Belle and Jim Keathley

Nothing like sitting alone with Pat to share or hear a story along with a drink and an occasional cigar. Although my time to know Pat was far to limited yet the memories and life lessons will last the rest of my days. whether it was riding in the orange crush, taking tucker to get cheeseburgers or just completing work around the property, doing these things were made all that much better by simply doing them with Pat. I can only imagine all the lives Pat has touched in so many ways and i am certain that we each share in the loss of this great man and we each carry the pain left for his family and loved ones to bear.
