Pat was born on November 7, 1948 in Weatherford, Texas to Richard and Jo (Draper) Pittman. The family moved from Aledo, Texas to Fort Reno, Oklahoma and eventually settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He graduated from C.E. Donart High School and attended Oklahoma State University, studying mechanical technology. He served in the Army National Guard for nine years.
Pat worked in the automobile industry as a service manager, starting at Vincent Chevrolet in 1969, working thirty plus years as service manager for Wilson Chevrolet. He was awarded the “Only the Best Service Manager Club” award eight times. He loved “working on cars and fixing people”. He also worked at Carlile Automotive, Ruble Vance Chevrolet, Stillwater Honda and Ron Shirley Pontiac, retiring in 2013. His pride and joy was his bright orange 1960 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery Express, which he restored from a rusted heap.
He was married to Sara Suddeth in 1968, and from this union two children were born, son, Kelly Pittman and wife Jennifer, daughter Angi Oefelein and her husband Mike. This marriage ended in divorce. He married Diane Palmer in 2008 and gained a bonus daughter, Erin Hall.
Pat was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks for 29 years, serving as Exalted Ruler for the local lodge, as well as Grand Lodge District Deputy and Oklahoma Elks State President. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 9 years, serving as Worthy President for the local aerie.
Pat loved cars, but running a close second was his love of BBQ and smoking meats. He had a reputation as a great smoker, specializing in brisket, ribs, pork butt, and smoked cabbage. He was instrumental in starting the Elks Blazathon, and was chairman of that event for many years and was proud of the money this annual event raised for Judith Karmen Hospice over the years. Pat also was an avid OSU fan, a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and loved singing karaoke, especially Johnny Cash.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and his brother, Mark Pittman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his kids, Kelly, Angi, and step-daughter, Erin, and sister, Cheryl Dedrickson.
Pat was loved by all who met him, with his big, booming voice and wonderful bear hugs. He leaves behind a host of friends and extended family.
