Wednesday, March 11, 2020, another Angel was called to the Lord. Stella Mae Stover, age 82 passed away at Linwood Village in Cushing, OK. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, OK with burial to follow at 4:00 pm at Wetumka cemetery in Wetumka, OK. Pastor and dear friend Buddy Lairson will preside over the services.
Stella was born on June 19, 1937 in Wetumka, OK to William D. and Effie M. (Boyd) Fisher. She attended school in Wetumka, Sands Springs, and Hanna, OK. She married Walter D. Hill on July 20, 1954 in Okmulgee, OK and they moved to California. She and Walter had five children, Robby, Michael, Cynthia, Denise, and Donna Hill. Stella and Walter divorced sometime in 1965. She met and married Clifford Scott in Bakersfield, CA and they proceeded to move to Shawnee, OK and she had her sixth child, Paul R. Scott. She and Mr. Scott divorced, and Stella Re-married Walter Hill and they proceeded to move to Ada, OK where Stella attended and graduated from LPN school. She worked at Valley View Hospital in Ada for the next 8 years. The family then moved to Stillwater in 1976 and she continued her LPN career at Stillwater Medical Center for the next 16½ years. Also, during her time at SMC she worked weekends at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City for a period of 6 years. Stella and Walter divorced again in 1979.
She then met Boyd L. Stover in Stillwater, OK and they were married on June 11, 1982. They have a blended family of 10 children together. She gained 4 stepsons through this union, Timothy, Robert, Doug, and Thomas Stover.
Stella and Boyd lived in Stillwater for a few years, retired from their prospective jobs and moved to Grand Lake at Jay, OK where they spent a wonderful life of leisure and enjoyment in their senior years. After both of their health declined, they moved to Cushing, OK where they spent their final moments on this earth.
Stella was preceded in death by her Husband, Boyd L. Stover, her Father, William D. Fisher, Mother, Effie Mae Fisher, Infant brother William D. Fisher, Jr., one son, Paul R. Scott, and one stepson, Timothy N. Stover.
She is survived by son Robby and (Carol) Hill of Checotah, OK, son 1st Sgt. Michael and (Linda) Hill of Smiths, AL, daughter Cynthia Townsend of Checotah, OK, daughter Denise and (Lee) Larson of Cushing, OK, daughter Donna and (Douglas) Zapp of Shawnee, KS, stepson Robert and (Lisa) Stover of Ponca City, OK, stepson Doug and (Judy) Stover of Stillwater, Ok, and stepson Thomas and (Ruth) Stover of Stillwater, OK. One sister, Nadine Tomlinson, 2 brothers Darrell Fisher and Terry Fisher. One sister-in-Law Carol Brunnemer. She is also, survived by numerous nieces and nephews and 15 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren which she loved immensely and bragged about constantly to anyone within earshot.
