Linda Lou (Lee) Jamison, age 76, of Stillwater, OK, passed away at home on April 13th, 2020. She was born on November 10th, 1943, to the late Martin Lee and Madge (Moore) Lee in Ponca City, OK. She attended Ponca City High School and graduated in 1961. She then attended Oklahoma State University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965.
She met her first husband, the late Robert Jamison, while attending a Russian History class at OSU. Robert was impressed by her ability to spell difficult Russian republics’ names, such as Azerbaijan, and the Beef Stroganoff she prepared for him. They were married on December 29th, 1967. Robert then joined the United States Air Force, and they were sent to several bases in the USA. While stationed in Alexandria, LA, their daughter Kathleen (who survives her) was born in April of 1970, and their son Thomas was born in April of 1971 but did not survive for long. After Robert’s service in the Air Force, they moved to Stillwater, where Robert received his master’s degree in education in 1974.
Linda and Robert then moved to Vinita, OK, where Robert served as assistant vice-principal of Vinita High School from 1974 to 1980. While in Vinita, Linda was active in the local American Association of University Women chapter, a Camp Fire leader, and worked part-time at various locations. She shared her love of reading with her daughter Kathleen, and they were frequently seen at the local library.
In August of 1980, they moved back to Stillwater so that Robert could work on and receive his doctorate in education. Linda became an administrative assistant to the Physical Plant Director at OSU, a position she would hold until her retirement in 2005.
Linda’s first husband Robert passed on October 21st, 1995. Starting a new chapter of her life and blessed with the wonderful support of her friends, Linda was able to travel to Rome and Paris, and enjoyed many other outings. She then married her second husband (who survives her), John Houck, on May 16, 2006. They shared a love of traveling around the USA, especially New Mexico, taking cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, around the Great Lakes, in addition to engaging in many intense games of bridge with their friends.
Linda is predeceased by her parents, Martin and Madge Lee, her sister Catherine (Lee) Alsop, her first husband Robert Jamison, and her son, Thomas Jamison.
Linda is survived by her daughter Kathleen Jamison-Patnode and son-in-law Richard Patnode of Tulsa, OK, her second husband John Houck of Stillwater, OK, her niece Janice Verhoeve of Lone Tree, CO, her nephew John Alsop and wife Karen of Katy, TX, and her cousin Richard Lee of New York, NY.
Open viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, April 21st, from 9:00am to 6:00pm at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, OK. A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd, at Strode Funeral Home and will be live streamed. Linda wished to be cremated so there will not be any graveside services.
