Jackie Lynn Griffin (Smith), passed from this life to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 13, 2020 in Pagosa Springs, Colorado where she and husband Johnny have a vacation home. Jackie was born September 25, 1944 in Clarksville, Texas. Her family moved to West Texas, landing in Crane when Jackie was in the sixth grade.
Jackie married the love of her life, Johnny Griffin, on March 13, 1959 and was fortunate to have celebrated 61 years of marriage together. Even though they married when they were both very young, Jackie was determined to be a high school graduate. Her Mom said it would never happen, but Jackie told Johnny that h**l would freeze over before she did not graduate from high school. Jackie never missed one day of school in two years and graduated at the top of her class with a 97.7 grade average. School lessons came easy for her with a near perfect memory. The school principal would inform her she could not serve as valedictorian or salutatorian since she was married. Jackie replied to the principal, "I am not here to be either one of those. I am here to earn my high school diploma.”
After raising two precious children, Cody Alan and Lisa Lynn, the Griffins relocated to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1981 for an opportunity in the gas business. Jackie retired from Getty Oil Company as a field accountant but continued the accounting work for the gas company that she and Johnny built together in Stillwater.
Jackie had a fascination for lighthouses and traveled numerous times with her good friend, Charlena Mullen (Swisher), to see all of the coastal lighthouses in the United States and Canada. Also, Jackie loved to travel internationally with her family and friends, especially to Ireland.
Jackie was proceeded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Juanita Smith; one brother, Joel Smith; and one aunt-sister Carolyn Mullen. She is survived by husband Johnny Griffin, daughter Lisa Bliss, son Cody Griffin and wife Denice, son-in-law Timm Bliss, granddaughter Tasha Bliss, grandson Christopher Griffin and wife Marie, grandson Justin Griffin and wife LaRee, and great grandchildren Caitlin and Aurora Griffin, Westin and Petra Griffin. Jackie loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who all called her “Mimi.”
Jackie is also survived by two sisters, Sherry Pomroy and husband Eddy, and Joni Tooke and husband Dexter; one brother, Scott Smith and wife Jenny; and sister-in-law’s, Marybeth Smith and Kay Brown. And a large number of family and friends.
Jackie was the most special and unique person that her husband has ever known. To say she will be missed is a vast understatement.
