On April 30, 2020 Maydene Lorayne Hughes passed from this life in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 88. Funeral Services will be 10:30 Wednesday May 6, 2020 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater.
Maydene was born on August 10, 1931, in Perkins, Oklahoma to James Henry and Goldie May (Bostian) Lacy. Phillip Roger Hughes became her husband on May 9, 1953, in Perkins, Oklahoma. She graduated from Perkins High School and worked at Del-Mars Grocery Store as head cashier for 30 years while serving as homemaker. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church and was a charter member, where she was a Sunday school teacher for about 40 years and also served on the Women’s Missionary Union. Later, she was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Lorayne enjoyed painting, ceramics, coin collecting and crafts. She took trips every year with all of her sisters and many trips with her church group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Evelyn Maxine Turnham; and brother, Norris Ray Lacy.
Family members include son, Phillip (Sharon) of Jenks, Oklahoma; daughter, Karen Sue Rakes of Stillwater; siblings, Judith Kay Lacy, Geraldine Jeanette Allen, Yvonne Marie Evans, Martha Ann Bowyer; and 3 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
