She was born March 2, 1928 in Shamrock, Ok to the late Alfred and Zelma Harting.
Living with blindness most of her life, Betty was an inspiration to all who knew her. She did not let blindness stop her from achieving her goals and being fearlessly independent. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for the Wesleyan Medical Center in Wichita, KS. Betty was a lifelong Christian with an unshakeable faith in Christ, resulting in many answered prayers.
Betty enjoyed her family more than anything and valued her time with her son Mike as well as her granddaughters Robyn and Carly. She was often heard saying these were the happiest moments of her life. Betty was a loyal follower of OSU Cowboy athletics and never missed a game that was on television or the radio. She had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that her family will forever remember.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth and Alfred; sister, Wanda; and two sons, Michael and Alfred Eugene Jr.
Betty is survived by her two granddaughters, Robyn Jones and her husband Kevin of Cushing, OK, and Carly Hart of Norman, OK; two great-granddaughters, Madelyn and Mia; best friend Kathy Stinson her “write hand”. Along with many nieces and nephews who will all miss her greatly.
In lieu of flowers, family has asked donations to be made to The Foundation for Fighting Blindness, https://donate.fightingblindness.org/webdonation, in honor of Betty.
