Obituary

John “Jack” Anthony Beckman, 76, of Stillwater, OK, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2020 at the Lakeview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Eufaula, OK. His Rosary service will begin 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His Funeral Mass begins 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with his burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The celebrants conducting his mass will be Father Ken Harder and Father Robert Duck, and Father Brian O’Brien, Pastor. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on June 30, 1944 in Louisville, KY to Henry LeRoy Beckman and Bernice Pauline (Allgeier) Beckman. He graduated from Trinity High School in 1962. He attended the University of Louisville graduating with a Master’s degree in Urban Studies. He served as a Louisville Police Officer, St. Matthews Firefighter and Miami-Dade Police Detective. He met Cynthia (Webb) Brungardt and they were married on October 20, 1990 in Louisville. Jack had a strong Catholic faith and a strong devotion to his family. After his mother passed away, he moved his family to Stillwater for his young son, John, to be able to grow up with his only grandparents.
While living in Stillwater and enjoying retirement, Jack enjoyed serving the church by volunteering his skills and time at St. Francis Xavier. He also considered his personal relationship with Fr. Bob Schlitt and Fr. Ken Harder as a blessing from God. His selfless activities included caring for Fr. Bob’s rose garden, helping Cindy to host visiting missionary priests by taking them to dinner and having theological discussions.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Sharon McGuire.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cindy of Stillwater; his son, John Beckman and wife Maddie of Tulsa, OK; stepdaughter, Emily (Brungardt) Smith and husband Preston Smith of Tulsa. Mary Lee Ackerman, Louisville, KY., Jerry Beckman and wife Beverly, Louisville, KY., Pamela Morrison, Louisville, KY., Robyn Pierce and husband Joe, Crestwood KY. Also, special friends Orlando Cobos and Cyntia Paladines-Romero and their children Gabriel, Isabella and Addison of College Station, TX.
