A Mass of Christian Burial for Kerry Patrick Sohrwide, 67, of Stillwater, Okla., is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Robert Duck officiating. A Rosary will be said by Father at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral. Services are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Patrick was born March 28, 1953 to Dayton and Mittie (Roberts) Sohrwide in Texas City, TX. He grew up and attended schools in the area until moving to Pauls Valley, OK his Junior year of High school and graduated in 1971. He went on to receive a B.S. in zoology from Oklahoma State University and later graduated from Baptist Medical Center School of Cardio-Pulmonary Sciences. He began his Respitory Therapist career in 1978 at Stillwater Medical Center and retired in 2015. He married the love of his life, Mary Jo (Dillon) Sohrwide on December 30, 1978 and they raised two daughters together.
Patrick was an avid historian and served as Commander for the Oklahoma Division (Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) and Society Commander for the Military order of the Stars and Bars (MOSB). He was the past Commander and current Councilman for the Army of Trans-Mississippi (MOSB). Patrick was past Historian General for Gen. NBForrest Cavalry Corp; past national Adjutant General for the MOSB and was Deputy Curator for the Confederate Memorial Hall. He was also past Commander and longtime member of the General Stand Watie Military History Society. Patrick was a dedicated member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater, OK.
Patrick passed from this life and into the arms of his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2020 in Stillwater, OK. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo and parents, Dayton and Mittie.
He is survived by two daughters, Laura Putnam and her husband, Aaron of Elm Creek, NE and Taylor Snapp and her husband, Adam of Edmond, OK; four grandchildren, Beckham, Bronx and Blake of Elm Creek, and Mary Joanne of Edmond; one sister, Lyria Johnson and her husband, Gene of Irving, TX; one sister-in-law, Susan Turner and her husband, Charlie of Bixby, OK; one nephew, Matthew Turner of Tulsa, OK and one niece, Elizabeth Turner of Broken Arrow, OK.
No one who met Pat could forget his quick wit, humor and his uncanny way to connect to people in a deep and positive way. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his family and dear friends.
