James A. Varble, Sr. “Jim”, age 73, of Ripley, Oklahoma passed away on Monday September 28, 2020 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Strode Funeral Home and Cremation in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on September 10, 1947 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mary and Joseph Varble.
Jim was a welder by trade. He worked at Kentucky Trailer Manufacturing as a welder for 30 years. After that, he became a security guard. First for Wackenhut, followed by Murray Guard, and he advanced to the rank of Sargent and became the site supervisor. He later retired from security.
Jim was an avid fisherman and loved to catfish. He would go cat fishing anytime he could find a free moment. Jim also enjoyed camping at Diamond Caverns in Kentucky. He was in the Army for a brief time. He very much liked to go to the local bars and pool halls and shoot games of 8 ball. He was a pretty good pool player and won many tournaments. Jim was also a shade tree mechanic.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Fay Varble; his mother Mary Davis; step father J.T. Davis; and brother Frankie Jones.
He is survived by his brothers Floyd “Butch” Jones, Herbert Gerber, and Morris Varble; sister Rosemary Griffin; his son James “J.J.” Varble, Jr. and wife DeAnn Varble; daughter Kitty Durant and husband Charles Durant of Perkins; Daughter Crystal Watts and husband Kim Watts of Ripley; and grandchildren Danny Hamm, Justin Varble, Tiffany Varble, Andrea Varble, Harley Durant, Kourtney Durant, Gabriella Durant, Jayden Durant, Brett Webb, Lane Webb, Andrew Webb, Cole Watts, and Tyler Watts. He is also survived by many friends and family too numerous to be named.
