Mary Lois Wiley, 93 years and 10 months old passed away on November 30, 2020. She would have been 94 in February. Her funeral service will begin 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Eastside Church of God in Christ in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with her interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee. Her service will be livestreamed by her family on Facebook. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

She was born February 16, 1927 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Phil Cowan and Estella (Henry) Cowan.
She attended school in Red Bird, Oklahoma, graduating from Miller Washington High School.
She was married to Carl Herndon and to this union 2 children were born; Christine (Herndon) McGlory and Larry Herndon.
She later married Vincent Wiley, Sr. and to this union 4 children were born; Vincent Wiley, Jr., Clifton Wiley, Donnell Wiley, and Timothy Wiley.
She was a member of Lawson Temple Church of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Fred D. Lawson, Jr., holding numerous positions in the church; Deaconness, President of the Young Women's Christian Council "YWCC", President of Young People's Willing Worker "YPWW".
She worked in the Church of God in Christ on the local, district, state, and national levels where she served as District YPWW chairlady and a member of the national hospitality department.
In 2005 under the leadership of Elder Miran Johnson she was appointed the Church Mother, responsible for overseeing the women's department of the church. When the church ended, she started attending Miracle Church of God In Christ when she could.
She had a long and robust work history as a chef/cook and a a housekeeper. She worked at Cliff's Drive Inn, Del Rancho, Smith's Restaurant, Renaissance Nursing Home, Grooms family (as a housekeeper), McDonald's, Gatesway, Kriegel's (housekeeper), and Verna Reid (as a housekeeper). She worked for over 39 years at Gamma Phi Beta sorority for House Mother Elizabeth Geist, retiring in 1997.
She loved gardening, church, traveling to church convocations/meetings, dressing up, working math problems, family gatherings, and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Wiley, Sr., mother, father, daughter Christine (Herndon) McGlory, son Vincent Wiley, Jr., granddaughter Kissa Patrice Herndon, Granddaughter Amy (McGlory) Walling, Great Grandson; Alex McGlory, sisters; Phyllis Denny, Lillie "Lenney" Walker, Doretha Herndon, Mattie Morton, Darlene Tobler, Erma Cowan Grayson, brothers; Johnny Lee Cowan, Roscoe Cowan, Nathaniel Cowan, and Phillip Cowan.
She is survived by 4 sons; Larry Herndon, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Clifton Wiley, Stillwater, Oklahoma, Donnell Wiley, Seattle, Washington, Timothy Wiley, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son-in-law Rev. Cleo McGlory, Grandchildren; Darius McGlory, Paige Wiley, Rachel Wiley, Simone Wiley, Phillip Wiley, Shevaun Herndon, Dupree Herndon, and Kevin Herndon. Great Grandchildren; Domynique Herndon, Dupree Herndon, Aristin Herndon, Dimitrus Herndon, Skylar Holmes, Kyrie Holmes, Riley McGlory, August McGlory, and Remy McGlory. Sisters; Florene Cowan Hunter, and Mattie Cowan Morton, and a host of niece’s nephews, church family, and friends.
