Obituary

Nancy Lee Hamra was born July 11, 1935 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Nick & Virginia Hamra. She departed this earth December 30, 2020 in Stillwater Oklahoma. Friends and family are welcome to come to Strode Funeral Home Saturday (January 2, 2021) and Sunday (January 3, 2021) from 12:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. to spend time with her. Nancy’s life will be celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, OK at 2:00 p.m. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Nancy grew up in Henryetta and graduated from Henryetta High School in 1952. She attended William Woods College her freshmen year, then transferred to Oklahoma State University where she met her husband, Jon. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and deeply loved the blue and blue! She graduated from OSU with a degree in Elementary Education which helped support Jon through a tour in the Air Force, dental school and a hospital internship.
When the family moved back to Stillwater to make it their permanent home, Nancy did not hesitate to get involved and serve her community. She was a member of PEO, President of Altrusa, Stillwater Hospital volunteer and buyer, and Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni President, treasurer and advisor. She served on numerous boards and fundraisers such as Stillwater Museum Association, American Cancer Society, Sheerer Museum, Big Brother/Big Sister, Friends of Music Scholarship Musicales, First United Methodist Church and many others. She was most proud of starting the “Celebrity Waiters” fundraiser for Stillwater’s effort for the Leukemia Foundation.

She followed in her father’s footsteps owning and operating a business, Pier 1 Imports, for many years. She loved decorating and entertaining!

Nancy was a fabulous cook and loved to travel and garden! She attended numerous cooking schools in Italy and England. She was famous for her authentic Lebanese and Italian dinners as well as her Christmas toffee and desserts.

She loved her family, friends, OSU, Stillwater and cherished her Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jon Patton, parents, and her younger brother Nicky.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Fix and husband Dusty Fix of Stillwater, son Barry Patton and wife Vanessa Patton of Stillwater, grandchildren Dylan Fix, Daxton Fix, Kailey Weiner and husband Jake Weiner, Skyler Patton and wife Chelsea Patton, and great grandson Asher Weiner.

Without doubt, she was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

I worked for Nancy at Pier 1 for a couple of years and she was a wonderful woman, boss and mentor. I remember my first Christmas working there she invited her employees to her home for dinner. We each received $50 gift and I was so in shock! That was a lot of money! I also got to travel with her to Dallas Market and the business skills I learned from her have benefited me in many aspects of my life. I always smile thinking about her and wish the family my heartfelt condolences.
