Charles Henry Porter III passed away January 10, 2021, in Stillwater, OK. Charles was 75 at the time of his passing. His visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021, and from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday January 15, 2021. His family will receive visitors on Friday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. His funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday January 16, 2021 at the University Heights Baptist Church located at 323 S. Knoblock, Stillwater, OK. His service will be livestreamed from the University Heights Baptist Church website: Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on July 30, 1945, in Stillwater, OK to Charles and Alta Porter (Flowers). He graduated from Quay High School as well as Central State College in Edmond, OK. He married Connie J. Flager on October 29, 1966 in Yale, OK. Shortly after they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where Charles was assigned by the Air Force. He was active in the military from 1966-1969 at Elmendorf AFB and then joined the reserves in 1969-1972. He was a proud Air Force veteran and was proud to serve his country. Charles grew up on a dairy farm which he was extremely proud of and told everyone he could about his love of farms and dairy cattle. He was in FFA throughout his high school years and was an accomplished judge at the FFA competitions. He worked as an insurance agent for AFR and was also a retired rural mail carrier.

Sports consumed his life from a small boy, playing baseball and basketball with his brother and cousins. This continued throughout his adult life playing softball and passing this love and passion of team and competition in sports to his kids. Charles was a sports fan playing as well as watching. It was the most enjoyable time of his life watching OU football with his family.

When Charles was stationed in Anchorage it was such an important and enjoyable time, they always talked about taking his children there. In 2019, 50 years later Charles got that chance. It was his most enjoyable time spending time with his family and that cruise was everything to him, and was also able to take his grandchildren. Family trips were important as he took several trips to Disney World and the most recent in December.

Charles was a grandpa that loved his grandkids unconditionally and with his whole heart, he was a grandpa first.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife Connie Porter, and his parents Charles and Alta Porter.

He is survived by his son Charles Henry Porter the IV, (Chuck) and wife Sherylynn, his children Abigail Grace and Charles H. Porter V (Chase). Jaylon Martin and husband Micheal, and son Landon Micheal. Brother John Porter and wife Patti of Edmond and nieces Shandra Porter and Tressa Diesselhorst and husband Jake and children; and mother-in-law Geraldine Flager. He also leaves behind numerous cousins that were like his brothers and sisters. His “coffee guys”, Sunday School Class, and not forgetting his dearest and closest friends, he loved you all like family.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the (SASA) Stillwater Area Sports Association as this was a large part of his life as a parent coaching his kids as well as playing as an adult. Stillwater Area Sports Association 315 E. 9th Stillwater, OK 74074,

We are so devastated for the loss of Charles. He was such a good man and loving father and grandfather. He was so good to his niece and my wife, Tressa, and our family. In fact, I think he was the first person in the Porter family that approved of me for Tressa when we met in college. :U) I am so going to miss my long sports talks with him and the time we spent together. He was one of the biggest OU Fans of them all -- but I also know deep down inside he loved OSU too. He was his own "house divided" you could say - just like me. To Chuck and Jaylon, my deepest condolences for the loss of your dad. We will miss you so much Uncle Charles. Rest in peace my friend.
