Marion Joe Sallee

Marion “Joe” Sallee, 85, of Stillwater, OK, passed away on January 19, 2021.

A private family service will be held on January 26, 2021 at Strode Funeral Home. Reverend Buster Holzer of Livin’ Loud Outdoors will be officiating. Visitation is on a “come and go” basis from Saturday, January 23, through Monday, January 25, from 8:00am to 8:00pm at Strode Funeral Home. A public burial will be held at Fairlawn Cemetary in Stillwater, OK at 11:00am on January 26, 2021.

Joe was born in Pawnee, OK on July 18, 1935 to parents William H Sallee and Edna M “Hope” Sallee. He graduated from Pawnee High School and continued on to Oklahoma State University. Later, he went on to join the Army National Guard from 1957-1965 where he became a Staff Sergeant.

He was married to Golda Mae Potter on August 20, 1965; they were married for 39 years.

Joe retired as a Customer Service Specialist from Oklahoma Natural Gas after 27 years. He painted off and on periodically until he was 80 years old. His hobbies included coaching grandchildren and children in little league, while also playing softball himself and umpiring in his free time. “Grandpa” Joe also enjoyed spending time with his family and watching Pioneer football.

Joe is survived by Brothers (2): Johnnie and Sue Sallee and Lyle and Adeana Sallee and Sisters (5): Nancy Sallee, Rosa Garrison, Phyllis Heisler, Carolyn and Marvin Harrell, and Joyce Heisler. Daughters (3): Rhonda Vogt, Debbie Cawood-Stokes, and Sharon Jones. Surviving Grandchildren (12): Brandy Vogt, Brendin and Courtney Vogt, Pilare Simon, Shannon and Chris Cagle, Tiffany and Jake Hubbard, Cody Anderson, Robert and Christina Anderson, Chad and Joy Cawood, Dawndra Berkenbile, Jerry Cawood, Sean and Christine Cawood, and Kyle Baker. Surviving Great-Grandchildren (18): Sylar Warrior, Mckenna Vogt, Liam Vogt, Kyle Sage, Kymber and Austin Scott, Caris Cawood, Marin Cawood, Hunter Greene, Lillian Berkenbile, Cash Cawood, Carson Cawood, and Case Cawood. Bailey Long, Blaine Long, Mason Hubbard, Alex Anderson, Elianna Anderson, and Jordan Anderson. Great, Great-Grandchildren (2): Ophelia Scott and Olan Scott, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by: wife, Golda M “Potter” Sallee; parents, William H Sallee and Edna M “Hope” Sallee, as well as brothers: William “Jr.” Sallee, Leslie Sallee, Jimmie Sallee, and Kenneth Sallee; sister: Marjorie Engle; and sons: Jerry and Larry Cawood.

Pallbearers will be Chad Cawood, Sean Cawood, Brendin Vogt, Sylar Warrior, Hunter Greene, and John Vogt.
