Paul was born on December 29, 1934 in Covington, KY to Charles and Hilda (Marsh) Richardson. He married Alice Mistler on May 3, 1958 in Covington. The following year their daughter, Ruth Anne, was born in Covington, KY.
He was truly a lifelong learner. Paul attended Beechwood School in Fort Mitchell, KY from kindergarten through 12th grade and has kept up with some of those classmates through the years.
Paul went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Secondary Education in 1957. He taught Biology at Erlanger Lloyd High School from 1957 to 1959 and Covington Holmes High School from 1959 to 1962, he then earned Master’s degrees (M.Ed., MAT and MS) from the Universities of North Carolina and Cincinnati from 1962 through 1966. He completed his formal education with a PH. D in Botany from the University of Cincinnati in 1968. After that graduation, they moved to Stillwater, OK in August 1968 where he taught at Oklahoma State University in the Department of Botany and Microbiology until his retirement in 1992.
In his retirement Paul and Alice enjoyed many OLLI classes at OSU.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hilda, and brother, Delton.
Paul is survived by his wife, Alice and daughter, Ruth Fillmore and her husband, Kirk; sisters, Leva Lessure and Elizabeth Richardson; nieces, Carol Lessure and Pam Richardson and nephews, Harold Lessure and Dean Richardson and their families.
The family feels the best memorial would be to think of him when you enjoy some of the many things he did, especially a fondness for classic autos, piano jazz and field trips though woods and native plant sites.
We also want to thank the Karman Legacy Hospice for the wonderful attention he received from that staff during the period he was in their care.
