Jerry was born to Dee Francis Pinkerton and Evelyn Francis Goin Pinkerton on October 29, 1948 in Poteau, OK where he resided most of his childhood. Jerry grew up with a twin brother, Gary, as well as his half-brother Carl Don. His Grandmother played a big part of his childhood. After high school, Jerry enlisted in the U.S Army in June 1966 while he was still 17 years old. After basic training, he was deployed to Germany where he served as a tank gunner. In 1970, he entered college at Southeastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, OK. He graduated with an associate’s degree in computer sciences. He moved on to Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and also met his wife of 46 years, Vivian Cundiff. Jerry and Vivian married in December of 1974 in Perkins, OK. To this union three children were born Jeremy Joyce (1976), Benjamin Garry (1978), and Steven Jerry (1980). Jerry enjoyed his career in Hospital Financial Services, playing golf, and watching sports, especially Oklahoma State. He helped coach his boys in baseball, basketball, and soccer.
Jerry was a natural athlete, especially golf and tennis. He was a good provider for his family and a devoted husband. He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was also a good Uncle to his nephews and nieces. His starring role was Grandpa to Peyton and Riley. He was thrilled when his granddaughters Peyton Helen (2003) and Riley Vivian (2007) entered his life. Adoration is not a big enough word to describe his affection for them. Jerry was kind, intelligent, funny, interesting, and playful. Jerry retired in 2014 and he and Vivian remained in the same home they lived in for 40 years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Gary Dee from California.
He is survived by his wife Vivian, his daughter and son in law Jeremy and Mike Heisten of Broken Arrow, his son and daughter in law Benjamin and Stephanie Pinkerton of Broken Arrow, son Steven Pinkerton of Stillwater, and his grandchildren Peyton and Riley Pinkerton of Broken Arrow. His gravesite service will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Perkins on Thursday March 18th at 2:00pm. His pallbearers will be Benjamin Pinkerton, Steven Pinkerton, Mike Heisten, Jordan Hubbard, Skyler Cundiff, and Carl Hughes.
