Dolores and Curly raised their sons in Stillwater. One of her greatest joys in life was being a mother. There was only one name she loved being called more than mom and that was Grandma. Dolores had a gift of being unconditional. Anyone who knew her knew they would always be greeted with love, kindness and care. Her nurturing spirit and gentle ways made her a friend to everyone. She was excellent at meeting people where they were in life with no judgment and making them feel as though they were the most important person. She left none of her gifts unused; as she worked her favorite job as a door greeter at Wal-Mart, she was able to bring her love of people to life making many friends. Dolores and Curly settled in Perkins where she went on to work as a caregiver to many residents. Dolores was a loving caregiver to Curly until his passing.
Her love for the Lord was unparalleled. Both her sweet smile and laughter were contagious. In 2010 Dolores married Rev. Lorn Starling and together they shared their love of Christ with others as he served as minister at the Tryon Assembly of God. It filled her soul to help minister to the people of their congregation. In her free time, she loved to cozy up in her chair and watch Westerns. Every year she looked forward to planning and attending family reunions. Dolores loved butterflies and her family and friends will take comfort in knowing she is near when they see them. She deeply loved people and truly never met a stranger.
