Ival C Hesser of Stillwater, OK, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2021, in the presence of family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Stillwater, OK.
Ival was born on June 21, 1930, near Glencoe, OK, to Clara and Charlie Hesser. He attended Eureka Country School for K-12, then completed a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma A&M University.
Following his undergraduate degree, Ival served 4 years in the United States Air Force as a tail gunner on the B-36 Peacemaker. When his Air Force service was complete, Ival returned to Oklahoma State University where he completed his master’s degree and also became a licensed pilot.
After moving to Nebraska to serve as a county agricultural agent, Ival met and married Marie Thomsen in 1960. Marie and Ival had two children, Michael (1961) and Diana (1964). Ival served more than 25 years as a federal investigator with the Civil Service Commission while the family lived in Omaha, NE. In 1990 Ival and Marie retired and moved back to Stillwater, OK.
Ival was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a passionate fisherman and is remembered by all for his humor and life-long love of playing the piano.
Ival was predeceased by his parents, Clara, and Charlie.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie, and their two children, Diana Potter (Greg) and Michael Hesser (Jill), five grand-children, Jessi Peralta (Matt), Ike Potter (Emmie), Ande Hesser, Erin Hesser, Lene Potter, and one great grandchild, Scarlett Rain Potter. He is also survived by his sister Charlena Hesser Swisher Mullen. Services will be held at a later date, to be determined.
