Derwin Gary Nasalroad, 74, died April 20, 2021 at Integris Baptist Hospital after a month-long hospitalization fighting a Covid related pneumonia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Calvary Assembly of God in Stillwater, OK. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Gary was born June 21, 1946 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to parents Ervin (Abe) and Rebecca (Bradley) Nasalroad. He was named Derwin Garrett but was called Gary his entire life. He grew up in Stillwater attending elementary school at St. Francis Xavier and graduated with the class of 1965 at C. E. Donart High School. After high school, Gary was in the Army Reserves and had a stint with a green beret unit, attended jungle school in Panama and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne division. He joined the U S Army by this time and met his future wife, Sue Hawley, while stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia. The couple was married in Augusta, Georgia on March 17, 1972 and celebrated 49 years of marriage on March 17, 2021.
During their Army life together, they had two children, Jevon Derek, born in Aurora, Colorado in 1973. In 1974, the three of them lived in South Korea during a duty station. Daughter, Bethany Rebecca, was born at Fort Bragg, NC in 1976. Later in 1976, Gary was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to Stillwater to attend OSU. In 1985, he started his own business, RSI, a residential and commercial roofing business and maintained it until his death. Gary never met strangers just potential friends. He loved to interact with others and learn from their expertise or experience. He served as an altar boy at St. Francis and loved the Lord with his whole heart most of his life. He studied the Bible and tried to walk in the ways of Jesus as his example and Lord. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church since 1976.
He was always a loving and supportive son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Gary loved to take family vacations and made this a practice throughout his married life. He will be greatly missed by his family who loved him very much.
He is preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Theresa.
He is survived by his wife; his son, Jevon and his wife Lisa; grandsons Lane and Vann, all of Stillwater, daughter Bethany Reininger and her husband Jack and grandson, Jaxon of Sarasota, Florida and granddaughter Savanna Stouffer and great granddaughters, Paizlee, Kalliope and Kimber. Gary is also survived by his brother, Darrell Nasalroad and his wife Li Chen of Edmond and his children Darrin and Jana and their mother, Darlene. Also surviving is his youngest sister, Venisa McLaughlin, Granbury, Texas, and her husband, Jeff and their children Cecily and Tabitha as well as numerous precious cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.
