Velma Lee Pliley Albright, age 88, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at her home in Stillwater. Funeral services officiated by Paul Weece and Mark Berry will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Sunnybrook Christian Church. A graveside service and burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Highland Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home and Cremation in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Velma was born July 3, 1932 in Hooker, Oklahoma to Albert Lea and Lydia Murial (Begole) Pliley. She was a graduate of Hooker High School, and later attended the University of Oklahoma. On June 3, 1951, Velma married the love of her life, her husband James Curtice Albright, with whom she shared 70 wonderful years together.
She had lived in Hooker, Norman, and Ponca City, Oklahoma, as well as Tripoli, Libya. At the time of her death she resided in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She attended Eastern Heights Christian Church in Ponca City and Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater. She was involved in Camp Fire Girls, Kay County Republicans, Ponca Playhouse, Tripoli Expat Wives Club, Gideon Auxiliary, and the Cottonwood Community Center. Velma had many interests, including gourmet cooking, quilting, gardening, family history and genealogy, as well as Bible study. She enjoyed being an Oklahoma City Thunder fan.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents and her adopted daughter Jennifer Gayle Albright.
Members of her family include her husband James; her son James Pliley Albright and wife Kathryn Maxwell Albright; her daughters Kristine Albright Stafford and husband Joseph Jean Stafford, and Tamera Albright Mayo and husband Stephen Mark Mayo; her grandchildren James Maxwell Albright and wife Elizabeth Albright, Elizabeth Anne Albright and husband Olen Weaver, Jordan Albright and wife Amanda Albright, Lydia Bardet and husband Wilfred Bardet, Suzanne Ashton and husband Chris Ashton, Leah Unger and husband Chris Unger, Melissa York and husband Matthew York, Joseph Stafford and wife Susan Stafford, Samuel Mayo and wife Michelle Mayo, Timothy Mayo and wife Lu Mayo, and Spencer Mayo.
She also leaves behind her fifteen great-grandchildren, Zoe Layman and husband Brad Layman, Natalie Albright, Jaden Higgs, Tegan Higgs, Olie Weaver, Asher Albright, Dakota Albright, Khaleesi Bardet, Heidi Bardet, Ronin Bardet, Anne York, Samantha York, Adelaide York, Marie Mayo, and Simon Ashton who is expected in June.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons James Maxwell Albright, Samuel Aaron Mayo, Jordan Pliley Albright, Timothy Ian Mayo, Joseph Albright Stafford, and Spencer Albright Mayo.
