Jacob to friends, and Dalton to family, was born June 17, 1998 in Stillwater, OK. He grew up in Ponca City, OK, Grove, OK, and finally settling down in Stillwater, OK. Upon graduating high school, he worked in the remodeling field doing drywall and painting as well as a paint and body repair tech. He took a lot of pride in being assigned to work on the Pistol Pete head for the OSU mascot.
Jacob was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. Even on his bad days he would set his problems aside, put on his contagious smile and put all of his being into making someone else have a better day. He loved riding bikes and skateboards; he was on the cover of the Stillwater’s Finest magazine to help in promoting the skatepark. He loved hunting and camping but was a fisherman at heart. He was all about teaching his nephews Kade and Kannon how to “fish like a pro”. Jacob was always tearing broken things apart to learn why it worked the way it did and then build it into something new. He loved learning to grow food and experimented in making music and various art projects.
Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd “Brian” Payne, his paternal grandmother Ella Payne, and his maternal grandfather Kenneth Duncan.
He is survived by his mother, Kendra Rozell of Stillwater, OK, his brother Kirby Scott and wife Koti and his two nephews Kade and Kannon of Tonkawa, OK, his brother Brian Payne and wife Kalynn and his nephews Hunter, Bryson, Rustin, and his niece Mikayla, of Grove, OK, his brother Skyler Rozell of Stillwater, OK, and his sister Jordan Payne of Ponca City, OK, his grandmother, Alice Duncan of Stillwater, OK, and his grandfather Frank “Spud” Payne of Shidler, OK, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews as well as many friends including his significant other Morgan McCune.
