The funeral commonly takes place at the funeral home, a church, or at the graveside. This is the important time of allowing friends, familiy, and others in the community to share in your loss.

Funerals can be formal or informal. They can include all kind sof personal touches, including special music, video tributes, speakers, and even themes. 

The burial of the casket or cremation urn can take place before or after the funeral. At this time the deceased is placed in a grave or cremation niche, which is usually accompanied by spoken words, prayers, or even military honors.

Many families elect to provide a time after the funeral for friends and family to gather and share memories, laughter, and support. This time can include a meal, light refrshements, or just be a time of fellowship. 

Sometimes this is done at a local restaurant, a church, or other venue. Often these gatherings are informal and take place at the family home.
